Terra Linda Milers: Running Toward Healthy Minds and Bodies

ATerra Linda Milers t Terra Linda Elementary School, a spirited new program is helping students kickstart their morning in a fun and healthy way. The Terra Linda Milers, initiated by educator Susanne Creer, encourages students to run laps around the school field before classes begin. The program promotes physical fitness and fosters bonds with families, as parents are encouraged to run and cheer on their students.

Students track their laps using a barcode that staff records each time they go around the field. The runners are then eligible for prizes for their laps and can see their progress over time. The staff also plays music and cheers on the students to encourage them to complete their runs.

Great job, Ms. Creer, for building an excellent program that brings the community together. Keep up the great work, students!

Oakcrest Elementary School Students Take the Stage in Amazing Performance of “Lion King Jr.”

It was colorful, captivating, and a big hit at Oakcrest Elementary School. About 70 students took the stage performing the musical, “Lion King Jr.” It was a beautiful and vibrant production involving  students from 3rd to 6th grade, including members of the stage crew. The gym was transformed into a stunning African oasis, complete with Pride Rock, the elephant cemetery, and the jungle.

To everyone’s delight, Principal Westwood successfully supplied the concession stand.

Special thanks to Mr. Knight, the Beverley Taylor Sorenson (BTS) music teacher, for his exceptional dedication, and to all the teachers and everyone who supported the production behind the scenes.

Huge applause for the incredibly talented students and staff at Oakcrest Elementary School!
